Have Your Say: Suicide or Murder

By Taimoor Umar Gondal

“Democracy is the best revenge”; this is the most repeated sentence of so-called democratic leaders and Parliamentarians of Pakistan. Unfortunately the victim of this revenge is poor masses. After paying the price of this revenge these poor masses start thinking that best dictatorship is better than worst democracy.

If you ask from PPPP leaders for anything, they have an argument that they sacrificed for democracy. This is the criteria to govern any state and through this argument they also justify their corruption. PPPP leaders are “Shaheeds” and the poor masses that victimized by this democracy and are a prey to the revenge of democracy are killed. They are not “shaheeds” as they have no suffix of “Bhutto, Zardari, Gilani, Shareef, etc.”

Dhani Baksh Sohu of Naseerabad is a victim of the revenge of democracy. He is not “shaheed” because he was amongst the 180 million poor public. Dhani Baksh was a young man of 27 from Naseerabad. He had extra ordinary skills but was an ordinary man and being ordinary was his crime. He passed the exam of Sindh Public Service Commission for posting in Cooperative Society Department as Assistant Registrar but did not know that passing the exam is not a criterion for getting the job. When he did not have the appointment letter he filed a petition in Sindh High Court Sukker Bench but did not have justice. All his fellow aspirants got their appointments in respective departments but he did not have his right as this ministry was under Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah. Completely disappointed from the system Dhani Baksh committed suicide. He committed suicide because these vacancies will be filled through nepotism. He committed suicide because he could not fight with the system.

The question is, whether the death of Dhani Baksh is a suicide or a murder? This is not only a murder of Dhani Baksh but a murder of whole unemployed youth of the country. This is the murder of independent judiciary. This is the murder of justice. This is the murder of whole system. This is a murder by democracy and a murder of true democracy. President, Prime Minister, Chief Ministers and public representatives have to come forward to avoid further murders otherwise a massive anarchy could be seen in the country.

Dhani Baksh died because he was not Bilawal Bhutto, Abdul Qadir Gilani, Hamza Shahbaz, Moonis Elahi. He died because he was a poor Dhani Baksh who could not pay to get job. He died because democracy does not favour the poor. He died because the fruit of democracy is only for the Parliamentarians. He died because democracy is best revenge.

The death of Dhani Baksh will bring a change or the system will remain same? Thousands of the candidates will get their right or they have to commit suicide like Dhani Bakhsh. This nepotism, favoritism and injustices are not only in the case of Dhani Baksh, but it is spread throughout the country. If this system is not corrected then Many Dhani Baksh would commit suicide.

15 posts of Sub Registrar Consolidated Advertisement No 06/2009. Date 8-08 2009. “B”. Board of Revenue. Sub-Registrar Bps-11 were published by SPSC and the written test was conducted on 25th November 2010, and now after the period of two years of its advertisement these posts have been canceled by the SPSC and a new advertisement is published for these posts which needed only a Walk-in-Interview. This is a serious joke to the thousands of candidates who appeared in this exam. Now these posts will be filled by nepotism and thousands of candidates will be deprived of their right.

When the deserving candidates do not get their right and seats are filled through nepotism then this corruption would never be eradicated. The people who are getting seats through nepotism will involve in corruption and will be always ready to do the unlawful tasks of their masters.

The aspirants who are facing this injustice could commit suicide like Dhani Bakhsh, or even they could involve in crimes and extremism. This discrimination and injustice would make them psychological patients. This injustice would ruin their personality. This injustice would not only destroy the fate of thousands of aspirants but it also brings further injustice in society.

People need a rewarding democracy. Democracy of revenge is not acceptable to anyone. If the case of ZAB can be reopened after so long time then the fate of these thousands of unemployed youth could also be secured. Government has to save these thousands of ZAB’s of future. They should be provided with justice in order to avoid such murder-cum suicides.

If there is no justice then these people will not admire democracy. They will start blaming democracy. If there is justice in the country and people are getting their rights and due share in every aspect then it does not matters for them whether president is Asif Zardari, Nawaz Shareef, Imran Khan or Ashfaq Pervaiz Kayani.
