Have Your Say: 9th Class Result & Pindi Board’s problem

Munir M Khan, Rawalpindi

The tall claim of good governance by the Punjab government has achieved yet another distinction to its credit. In the last week of August 2011, the Rawalpindi Board announced Class 9th result, which shook the students, parents as well as teachers. The result is so unbelievable that a student who was getting only passing marks in the internal exams, achieved 97% in the board exam and the one who was getting over 97% in the internal exams has been awarded only 48% marks in the final. Yet, there are cases where students are getting over 90% marks in the rest of the papers but getting either 3 or 0 marks in one of the papers. The irony does not stop here, the so called think-tanks in the board are suggesting the Chairman according to their experience from their own angle so that the concerned staff should not be blamed later on if any inquiry takes place where has no indication in the near future as good governance prevails in province everywhere so deeply that the local administration is also taking care of itself. Few days back a letter to editor published in one of the newspapers that since all the papers have been lost, so it is not possible that the board will go for the rechecking option. News items published in Nawa-i-Waqt on September 12 that only those papers will be reconsidered in which the students are given marks in single digit. The parents who contacted the board were told that since it is the fault of the students as they have written wrong Roll No in the papers, so it is not possible to recheck all the papers. One is amazed to see that there is no one responsible in the Punjab Government to pull the Rawalpindi Board which horribly failed in discharging its professional duties. There is no one to come forward and pacify the mentally alienated parents who are passing through strange mental agonies since then and no one is ready to listen to them, wherever they go, they are shown the doors and given a reference of another employee and this cycle is repeated from morning to evening. The Khadim-e-Aala Punjab and the Education Minister Punjab are requested to take serious note of this laps and direct the board to correct all papers and then it should be open to students for rechecking for their satisfaction even if it takes more time. Moreover the concerned staff be dealt severely for their grave ignorance and laps.

  1. Yup, the SSC result is really ridiculous, there are rumours that BISErwp is re-announcing the result! Do you have any information regarding it, looking forward for a reply .

  2. The result has been re-announced with no major changes except adding 36 to 39 marks to the result of each student invariably whether he is passing or otherwise.Still there are students who were detained by the schools and did not appear in the exam but the mighty board has given A grade.Who can challenge them.
